Nairobi to Cape Town spans nearly the length of the continent — around five and a half hours nonstop in a long-range jet, replacing a full day of airline connections with a single elegant sector to one of the world's great destinations.
The flight
The routing runs south over Tanzania, Zambia and Botswana before descending over the Cape Fold mountains into Cape Town — with Table Mountain frequently in view on approach. Nonstop flight time is approximately 5 hours 30 minutes in a suitable long-range aircraft; smaller jets can fly the route with a technical stop en route, which we plan seamlessly into the itinerary.
Airports and arrival
Long-range departures operate from Jomo Kenyatta International (NBO). Arrival is at Cape Town International (CPT), where dedicated general-aviation handling clears you through customs and immigration quickly and discreetly. The city, the Atlantic Seaboard and the Winelands are all within easy reach — Camps Bay in half an hour, Franschhoek in under an hour.
The right aircraft
- Large-cabin, long-range jets — Gulfstream and Falcon class fly the sector nonstop with a full-service cabin, lie-flat rest and workspace.
- Super-midsize jets — a cost-effective option with a planned technical stop.
- Airline VVIP — for delegations and large family groups travelling together with staff and luggage.
Good to know
- Season: Cape Town's summer runs November to March — the opposite of Europe's, and the peak for the Seaboard, the Winelands and events; charter capacity books early over Christmas and New Year.
- Documents: international sector — passports required; South African entry requirements depend on nationality.
- The Winelands: onward helicopter transfers to Stellenbosch and Franschhoek estates make a memorable arrival — ask when booking.
- Safari links: the sector pairs naturally with stops in Livingstone/Victoria Falls or the Okavango Delta — a private aircraft turns the great Southern Africa circuit into one itinerary.
