When to call an air ambulance

Air ambulance transport is for situations where distance and time threaten outcomes: medical evacuation from remote areas and safari destinations, transfers from regional hospitals to specialist facilities in Nairobi, repatriation of patients to home countries for continuing care, and inter-facility transfers where a patient needs intensive-care conditions en route. We also arrange medical escorts on commercial flights where a full air ambulance is not clinically necessary — an honest recommendation about which is right comes first.

How an evacuation works

One call starts the process. Our coordination team takes the clinical picture — from the treating doctor where possible — and our medical director assesses the case. We match the aircraft and medical configuration to the patient's condition, activate the crew, and manage overflight and landing clearances, which our team handles around the clock. The referring and receiving hospitals are briefed, ground ambulances are confirmed at both ends, and the family is kept informed throughout. From remote Kenyan airstrips to international repatriations, the objective is the same: intensive-care standards from bedside to bedside.

Where we operate

Kenya and East Africa are the core of our operations — including the remote strips of the north, the coast and the safari regions — with international evacuation and repatriation arranged across Africa, to the Gulf, India, Europe and beyond. Longer sectors are planned with appropriate aircraft and, where needed, technical stops that do not compromise patient care.

Working with insurers and institutions

We coordinate directly with travel and medical insurers, assistance companies, employers and embassies, providing the clinical and operational documentation they require. Hospitals and corporate medical departments can contact us to establish evacuation protocols in advance — for remote-site operations, having the plan in place before it is needed saves the hours that matter most.

• Family: where aircraft configuration allows, a family member can usually accompany the patient.
• Non-urgent transfers: planned medical transfers — for treatment abroad, or returning home after treatment — are quoted like any charter, with the medical configuration specified by our clinical team.
